
Project DescriptionAs a budding site that was adding more products to its catalog, Tactical.com needed a look worthy of the site’s potential. E-commerce designs have to be treated slightly differently than a standard brochure site. Maximization of screen real estate becomes even more vital. For that reason, I knew I needed to have a clean layout that was easy on the eyes and heavy on the product imagery. One of the restrictions of the redesign was that I couldn’t change the placement of the navigation.
My InvolvementI completely redesigned Tactical.com’s header and homepage area – focusing on simplicity and a clear hierarchy for users. I developed all of the HTML and CSS personally and incorporated CSS3 techniques where possible. The new look has been very successful and helps to draw a clearer connecion between Tactical.com and it’s main manufacturer’s brand. In conjunction with the the homepage redesign, I redesigned the checkout process. With similar limitations on development, I focused on directing users through the cart seamlessly to lessen cart abandonment rates.
